The Passive

  • be + past participle*

Present Simple am / is / are + past participle
Present Be V.ing am / is / are  being + past participle
Preterite / Simple past was / were + past participle
Preterite Be V.ing was / were being + past participle
Present Perfect have / has been + past participle
Past Perfect had been + past participle
Will (Future) will be + past participle
Going to (Future) am / is / are going to be + past participle
Modals modal be + past participle

quelques exemples :

  • This door is never closed.
Brian was offered a bicycle for his birthday.
    They are being watched.
    The gangsters have been arrested.
This exercise must be done for tomorrow.
All right! It will be done.

Attention!

  • The waitress brought us the sodas.

- We were brought the sodas (by the waitress**)
- The sodas were brought to us (by the waitress**)
